Sunday is alive with activity as people come to hear a dynamic message that is practical, positive and relevant, to meditate, to enjoy uplifting contemporary music and to meet other enthusiastic, miracle-minded people. Many linger after the service for a cup of coffee and a bite to eat, enjoying the company of old friends and new. The Pre-Service Meditation begins at 9:30 am; The Service starts at 10 a.m.
Youth Ministry During Sunday Service
Your children can develop a healthy relationship with God, learn positive values, share their feelings, communicate with one another and develop a healthy self image. Classes include creative projects involving crafts and music that culminate in presentations to the adult congregation. Age or school grade determines in which class your child may participate. Young people must be registered for the program and signed in and out of each class meeting. Learn more. Call Debbie Coyle, Director of Youth Education, at 317.891.1142, to get more information.
We have a thriving and growing music ministry. We feature a talented Praise Team, including the Spirit of Praise Singers and Band, a seasonal choir called Voices of Unity, and numerous talented soloists and musical groups from all over the nation. Music Director Michael Davis directs the Unity of Indianapolis music program.
Requests for prayer are submitted to the Prayer Ministry by those in need of prayer for any reason. Prayer Angels anonymously pray for those who have made the request. Learn more or submit a prayer request online now.
The members of the Heart Network make sure that cards are sent to those who need cheering up, congratulations or support in their life journey. They also have a special telephone line where needs can be reported, information can be left about birthdays, anniversaries, hospitalizations or good deeds. Referrals are also available to people or agencies that can provide additional support as needed. Learn more.
Classes, Events & Activities
Unity of Indianapolis offers a wide variety of classes, events and activities each month. There are ongoing 12-step meetings and a study group for A Course in Miracles. Other book study groups form regularly and sometimes they generate classes. We have offered Keys to the Kingdom, 4T’s and Unity Basics classes. See what’s happening now and in the near future on our Calendar.
Volunteer Love in Action Opportunities
There are many opportunities to give of your time and talent at the Unity of Indianapolis. If you love to cook, you can join our Afternoon Delight team to raise funds for Youth Education by preparing meals after the Sunday Service. Those who wish to participate in a more technical capacity can volunteer to operate the sound equipment or use a laptop computer to provide visual enhancements to the service. The Church office always needs people who can help with creation of the newsletter, mailings, filing, mailing list maintenance or collating inserts to the bulletin. Rewarding experiences happen in the Youth Education department each Sunday for those who love to help young people develop spiritually. Working with a group formed to decorate for the holidays provides opportunities to be creative as well as meet new people. At Unity of Indianapolis, volunteers help out wherever and whenever help is needed.
Unity of Indianapolis encourages and supports the GLBT community. We participate in the Pride Parade, AIDS Walk and our LGBT Pride Group supports Lamda Legal of Indiana, IYG and Indiana Equality. Our ministers perform commitment ceremonies.
Many members of our congregation find that serving on church committees can be rewarding and provide an opportunity to give as well as receive the fellowship and challenge that committee work can provide. There are a variety of committees to choose from including Finance, Fund Raising, Bylaw, Membership, Outreach, Bookstore and Church Growth. Contact us to learn more.
Our Bookstore serves the needs of our congregation and others looking for a wide variety of books on spiritual and personal growth topics and meditative CD’s, cards and gift items. Of course, the Daily Word and Unity Magazine, as well as other Unity publications, will always be available.
We are currently in the midst of a minister transition. If you have a question related to the ministry of this community, please contact Karen Kirchman, president of the Board of Trustees.
